Library news

The library will be closed on Monday, September 6 for Labor Day, regular hours resume on Tuesday, September 7.

September marks Library Card Sign-Up Month; it’s a great time to stop in and update your information. If you’ve recently moved to Niobrara County please stop in and get acquainted with your library.

Registration is now being taken for the fall sessions of our Afterschool Program. “Around the World in 8 Weeks” is the theme for both programs. The first and second grade program will be held on Tuesdays beginning September 7 through October 26 from right after school until 4:30. The third and fourth grade session will be held on Thursdays beginning September 9 through October 28 also from right after school until 4:30. The book, “Around the World in 80 Days” is the inspiration for 8 weeks of books, crafts, activities and lots of fun. Call the library to register your children for these fun programs.

There are still some Monday Night Football Books left if you haven’t gotten yours yet! Stop by the library or contact Foundation members.

New books in the adult library include “The Sweetest Gift” by Janet Mills, “Garden of the Beasts” by Jeffery Deaver, “The Dragon’s Son” by Margaret Weis, “Hark” by Ed McBain, “Lost City” by Clive Cussler, “Red” by Ted Dekker, “Divine Evil” by Nora Roberts, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga” by Deepak Chopra, “Vintage Quilts” by Bobbie Aug, and “The Way to the top” by Donald J. Trump.

Our junior reader’s will enjoy “Running Scared” by Gloria Skurzynski, “The Case of the Rainy Day Mystery” by James Preller, “Intrigue at the Grand Canyon” by Carolyn Keene and “The Case of the Psychic’s Vision” by Franklin W. Dixon.

For our younger readers, there is “Minnie and Moo: The Night Before Christmas” by Denys Cazet, “Junie B., First Grader” by Barbara Park and “The Big Halloween Scare” by Steven Banks.

“Grandparents are Great” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, August 31, 2004. Storyhour is held each Tuesday throughout the year from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m children 3 through kindergarten.
