“The World of Books: What Books Mean to You” is the theme for the Friends of the Library bookmark and poster contest. Children pre-K through 3rd grade are invited to make a poster on an 8 ? x 11 piece of paper and 4th graders through adult are asked to create a bookmark, 2″ x 7″ that can be reproduced. Entries are due at the library by November 14 and winners will be announced Friday, November 18. For more details contact the library at 334-3490 or any Friends of the Library board member.

If daytime hours are difficult for you to get to the library be sure to plan a Wednesday evening visit. The library is open noon until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Friends of the Library cookbooks are back in stock for $10.00 if you are starting to think about holiday shopping?

New books in the adult library include “The Painted Drum” by Louise Erdrich, “April Showers” by V. C. Andrews, “Creepers” by David Morrell, “Straken” by Terry Brooks, “Unforgotten” by Kristen Heitzmann, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes” by Diana Gabaldon, “The Pattern of Her Heart” by Tracie Peterson, “Natural Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About” by Kevin Trudeau and “The Last Coach: the Life of Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” by Allen Barra.

For the young adult, there is “Back in Black” by Zoey Dean and “The Queen of Second Place by Laura Peyton Roberts.

Our junior readers will enjoy “Fires Alive” by David Baldacci and “Akimbo and the Elephants” by Alexander McCall Smith.

Our youngest readers will be sure to like “Click, Clack, Quackity, Quack” by Doreen Cronin, “The Finest Christmas Tree” by John Hassett and “Who Spilled the Milk” by Harriet Ziefert.

“Jungle Stories” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, November 8, 2005. Storyhour is held every Tuesday throughout the year for children ages three through kindergarten.
