The NCL Board of Trustees and Foundation Board invite everyone to an Open House for the Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library. An anonymous gift was received by the Niobrara County
Library Foundation Endowment Fund that results in the honoring of Lennea. Lennea grew up in Lusk and graduated from NCHS in 1956. Her life was a life of excellence and we are honored to honor her with the naming of the Children’s Library. Be sure to join us on Wednesday, August 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the library.

New newspaper subscriptions at the library include USA Today, Wyoming Tribune-Eagle, Rapid City Journal, Scottsbluff Star-Herald, Laramie Boomerang, Douglas Budget and the Crawford Clipper/Harrison Sun. The 2006 Legislative Library Funding Amendment is allowing us to offer some things we’ve not been able to do for many years. Several new magazine subscriptions will also begin soon. Be sure to stop in and take a look.

The Foundation is sponsoring a raffle for a partially hand-stitched quilt and crocheted tablecloth. The squares are over 70 years old and were donated by Dorothy Keenan. Judy Hamaker and several volunteers sewed the squares together into a quilt. Children’s Librarian, Yvonne Jensen donated a handmade crocheted round tablecloth that she made. Raffle tickets are available at the library and from several people in the community and the raffle is planned for early fall. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the endowment fund.
