On Monday, February 23 the film, In America will be shown at 6 p.m. at the library. This is the second film in the American Journeys: Border Lines in American Life series and everyone is welcome to attend. In America is the story of an aspiring Irish actor with a dream of breaking into the New York City theatrical scene. He immigrates illegally to the United States with his family and this American journey examines their efforts to fit in, make a home in a flop house – and find unexpected friends. The film stars Paddy Considine and Samantha Morton and is directed by Jim Sheridan. The film begins with a free meal and includes discussion lead by Deane Tucker, Professor of Humanities at Chadron State College. This series is funded by the We the People Initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities and is sponsored in part by the Wyoming Humanities Council. “Running Hot” by Jayne Ann Krentz is on the new book shelf. Ex-cop, Luther Malone, member of the secretive paranormal Arcane Society will be working with Grace Renquist, who has been hired as an aura-reader in the quest for a murder suspect. At their resort in Maui, Grace recognizes dark spikes in some of the auras. A new young adult book is“The Tales of Beedle the Bard” by J. K. Rowling.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Sweet Revenge” by M.C. King, “Double Team” by Michael Teitelbaum and “Mr. Granite is from Another Planet” by Dan Gutman. New easy titles are “The Moon Shines Down” by Margaret Wise Brown and “Ernest’s Special Christmas” by Laura T. Brown.
Presidents is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 19. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
