Don’t forget that the film, “Maxed Out” will be shown at the library on Wednesday, November 10 at 6 p.m. This film is part of the Faces of Addiction series and the evening includes a meal and discussion. For more information contact the library at 334-3490 or visit the library’s website.

The library will be closed on Thursday, November 11, 2010 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Normal hours resume at 10 a.m. on Friday, the 12th.

Nicholas Spark’s newest book is “Safe Haven.” A mysterious young woman named Katie appears in Southport. She seems determined to avoid forming any personal ties until a series of events draw her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with 2 young children and another with her plain-spoken neighbor, Jo.

Other new fiction books include “Time for Eternity” by Susan Squires, “The Cobra” by Frederick Forsyth, “Chain of Fire” by Christina Dodd, “Precious” by Sandra Novack, “Lost Empire” by Clive Cussler, “Kiss Me If You Can” by Carly Phillips and “Spider Bones” by Kathy Reichs. New fiction YA books include: “Three Black Swans” by Caroline B. Cooney and “Chills and Thrills: the Ultimate Anthology of the Mystical, Magical, Eerie, & Uncanny” edited by Lena Tabori.

“A Journey: My Political Life” by Tony Blair is now available in the non-fiction section as well as “The Weaver’s Idea Book: Creative Cloth on a Rigid-Heddle Loom” by Jane Patrick, “The Sonderberg Case” by Elie Wiesel and “The Old Farmer’s Almanac 2011.”

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books: “Sabotaged” by Margaret Peterson Haddix and “Heart of Glass” by Vivian French. A new picture book is “Buy My Hats” by Dave Horowitz.
