Beginning on Wednesday, February 2 the library will host movies after school through March as part of the Steed Reads Festival @ the Library. All of the films are horse-related and many are classics. The library will provide popcorn, but attendees must bring their own drink. In the first film, Racing Stripes, an abandoned zebra grows up believing he is a racehorse and sets out, with the help of his barnyard friends and a teenage girl to achieve his dream of racing with thoroughbreds. The movie begins at 3:30 p.m. and is rated PG and 102 minutes.

New non-fiction books are “A Rope and a Prayer: A Kidnapping from Two Sides” by David Rohde, “Colonel Roosevelt” by Edmund Morris, “Manifesting Change: It Couldn’t Be Easier” by Mike Dooley and “The Mysteries of China Mary: Living the Western Experience, 1833-1939” by Wyoming author Denice Wheeler.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books by Jake Maddox: “Hoop Doctor”, “Horseback Hopes”, “Running Back Dreams” and “Speed Receiver.” New picture books include “If I Had a Snake” by Leslie McGuire, “The Mystery of Pirate’s Point” by D. J. Paner and “Ben & Becky in the Haunted House” by Sindy McKay.
