The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual Book Sale and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 23. The Book Sale begins at 8 a.m. and the Ice Cream Social at 11 a.m. Plan now to stop by!

“Dolphin Tale” will be shown on Thursday, June 21 at 1:30 p.m. Based on true events, this family film is about Winter, a young dolphin who lost her tail in a crab trap and Sawyer, an 11-year old boy who befriends her. The film is 113 minutes and rated PG.

A new novel by Sandra Dallas is “True Sisters.” The book is based on the 1,300 mile trip the Martin Handcart Company made from Iowa City to Salt Lake City. It tells the story of four women brought together on the harrowing journey and united by the promises of prosperity and salvation in a new land. Through the ties of female friendship and the strength born from suffering, each one tests the boundaries of her faith and learns the true meaning of survival.

Other new fiction books include “Where Lilacs Still Bloom” by Jane Kirkpatrick, “Fall from Grace” by Richard North Patterson, “The Big Cat Nap” by Rita Mae Brown, “Love and Shame and Love” by Peter Orner, “The Replacement Wife” by Eileen Goudge, “The Wind Through the Keyhole” by Stephen King and “Come Home” by Lisa Scottoline. “City of Lost Souls” by young adult author, Cassandra Clare is now available. This is also available as an audiobook .

New adult non-fiction books are “Rather Outspoken: My Life in the News” by Dan Rather, “Courage: Overcoming Fear and Igniting Self-Confidence” by Debbie Ford and “The Skinny Rules: the Simple Nonnegotiable Principles for Getting Thin” by Bob Harper.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books: “McKenna, Ready to Fly” by Mary Casanova, “The Five Masks of Dr. Scream” by R. L. Stine and “Gymnastic Jitters” by Jake Maddox. Some new easy readers are “Work this Farm” by Michael Anthony Steele, “I Dreamt I Was a Dinosaur” by Stella Blackstone and “Brickbeard’s Treasure” by Hannah Dolan.
