Be sure to stop by on Saturday, June 22! Many, many items will be available at the Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale, beginning at 8 a.m. At 11 a.m., in celebration of 100 years of library service in Niobrara County the Ice Cream Social will begin with cakes, pies, desserts and ice cream. This year, in celebration, there is no charge for the Ice Cream Social. Plan now to stop by and enjoy some homemade goodness! The Book Sale and Ice Cream Social both end at 2 p.m.

A new novel by Gail Godwin is “Flora.” 10-year-old Helen lost her mother at age 3, and the beloved grandmother who raised her had just died. Now Helen and her late mother’s 22-year-old cousin, Flora, are isolated together in Helen’s decaying family house while her father is doing secret military work in Oak Ridge during the final months of World War II. Helen is desperate to keep her house in tack with all its ghosts and stories while Flora is determined to do what is right for Helen.

Other new fiction books include “Katie Opens Her Heart” by Jerry S. Eicher, “12th of Never” by James Patterson, “The Blossom Sisters” by Fern Michaels, “Standing in Another Man’s Grave” by Ian Rankin, “All He Ever Dreamed” by Shannon Stacey, “Murder as a Fine Art” by David Morrell, “Against the Edge” by Kat Martin and “Inferno” by Dan Brown. A new title for the young adult is “Flesh & Bone” by Jonathan Maberry.

New non-fiction books are “Battleship: a Daring Heiress, a Teenage Jockey, and “America’s Horse” by Dorothy Ours, “Keep It Pithy: Useful Observations in a Tough World” by Bill O’Reilly and “Shred: the Revolutionary Diet” by Ian. K. Smith.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles: “Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So Fabulous Life” by Rachel Renee Russell and “Hide and Seek” by Kate Messner. Some new easy books are “Bink & Gollie: Best Friends Forever” by Kate Dicammilo and “That is Not a Good Idea” by Mo Willems.
