Thursday, July 16 at 6 p.m. the library will host a Dinner and Discussion with author, Deborah Jiang-Stein. Jiang-Stein is the author of “Prison Baby,” which is described as “One woman’s struggles — beginning with her birth in prison — to find self-acceptance, proving that redemption and healing are possible, even from the darkest corners.” For more than 10 years, Deborah has championed support for people in need of freedom, life skills development, education, shelter, and career building. Deborah is a skilled storyteller and national speaker as well as the founder of The unPrison Project. The Wyoming Women’s Center is making this program possible, plan to attend!

Crafting @ the Library begins on Wednesday, July 15 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. All ages welcome!

A new novel is “Water Knife” by Paolo Bacigalupi. Detective, assassin and spy Angel Velasquez “cuts” water for the Southern Nevada Water Authority and its boss, Catherine Case, ensuring that her lush, luxurious arcology developments can bloom in the desert. Rumors of a game changing water source in Phoenix sends Angel to investigate, but when water is more valuable than gold, alliances shift like sand and the only truth in the desert is that someone will have to bleed if anyone hopes to drink.

Other new fiction books are “The Daylight Marriage” by Heidi Pitlor, “Robert Ludlum’s The Janson Equation” by Douglas Corleone, “Tail Gate” by Rita Mae Brown, “The Hanged Man” by P.N. Elrod, “The Truth According to Us” by Annie Barrows, “Our Souls at Night” by Ken Haruf and “The Rescued” by Marta Perry. New young adult titles are “Just so Happens” by Fumio Obata and “Michel Vey: Hunt for the Jade Dragon” by Richard Paul Evans.

“Wild Oats Project: One Woman’s Midlife Quest for Passion at Any Cost” by Robin Rinaldi joins other new non-fiction: “Herbal Goddess: Discover the Amazing Spirit of 12 Healing Herbs With Teas, Potions, Salves, Food, Yoga, and More” by Amy Jirsa and “The 5 Love Languages of Children” by Gary Chapman.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books, “Black Ops Conspiracy 365: Hunted” by Gabrielle Lord, “Darkmouth: the Legend Begins” by Shane Hegarty and “Grace Makes It Great” by Mary Casanova. New picture books include “Violet the Pilot” by Steve Breen, “Bulldozer’s Big Day” by Candace Fleming and “The Day Everything Went Wrong” by Moritz Petz.
