The Friends of the Library will be holding a Spring Book Sale on Thursday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are a variety of items, be sure to stop by! The Friends provide a variety of programming and reading incentives throughout the year.

On Wednesday, April 11, magicians, “Incredible Mr. E & Kyle” will be performing at the library for RIF (Reading is Fun) at 6:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to select their very own book to keep and snacks will be served. Be sure to attend this fun filled program! RIF is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Kristin Hannah’s latest novel is “The Great Alone.” Ernt Allbright, a former POW, comes home from the Vietnam War a changed and volatile man. Unable to adjust, he decides to move his family to Alaska to live off the grid in America’s last frontier. At first Alaska seemed the answer to their prayers, but as winter approaches and darkness descends Ernt’s fragile mental state deteriorates. In their small cabin, covered in snow, his wife and daughter learn the terrible truth – they are on their own in the wild with no one to save them, but their selves.

Other new fiction books are “On the Chase” by Katie Ruggle, “Olympus Bound” by Jordanna Max Brodsky, “Texas Rider” by Bradford Scott, “The Masterpiece” by Francine Rivers, “Death of an Honest Man” by M.C. Beaton, “Paris in the Present Tense” by Mark Helprin, “Harp on the Willow” by B. J. Hoff, “The Saturday Night Supper Club” by Carla Laureano and “Hellbent” by Gregg Hurwitz. New titles in the young adult section are “Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe” by Melissa de la Cruz and “Coldbloods” by Bella Forrest.

“Murder Beyond the Grave: True Crime Thrillers” by James Patterson is among new non-fiction along with “Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life’s Storms” by Tim Tebow and “The Million-Dollar One-Person Business: Make Great Money, Work the Way You Like, Have the Life You Want” by Elaine Pofeldt.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race” by Chris Grabenstein, “Red Moon Rising” by Erin Hunter and “The Khipu and the Final Key” created by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Some of the newer easy readers are “The Five Forms” by Barbara McClintock, “The New LiBEARian” by Alison Donald, “Sally Loves Horses” by Jody Mackey and “Oodles of Kittens” by Jane O’Connor.

“Hippity Hop!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for children age 3 through kindergarten. Call Dial-A-Story, 334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The library is hosting LegoTime on Tuesdays through the end of May. Preschool-aged children are welcome at 2:30 p.m. and school-aged children afterschool until 4:30 p.m. There are lots of creative opportunities! The library provides snacks and there are even prizes!
