Happy Thanksgiving! The library will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23, 2018 for Thanksgiving. Regular hours resume on Monday, November 26 at 10 a.m.

The movie, “Mary Poppins” will be featured on Monday, November 26 at 6 p.m. This is the last film in the “Votes for Women” dinner and movie series. A light meal will be served and discussion will be facilitated by Deane Tucker. Library programs are free and open to the public.

“Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure” will be shown at the library on Friday, November 30 at 1:35 p.m. Beethoven speaks for the first time in this holiday adventure! The library provides the popcorn; please bring your own drink. This movie is rated PG and is 85 minutes.

The Friends of the Library will hold their annual Christmas Cookie & Candy fundraiser on Wednesday, December 5 beginning at 3 p.m. at the library. Soup and Bread will also be available.

“Draw @ the Library” will be held at the library on Thursday, December 6 and 13 at Noon. Bring your lunch and learn some great drawing techniques with Barb Orr!

“Courtney’s War” is the newest novel by Wilbur Smith. Torn apart by war, Saffron Courtney and Gerhard Von Meerbach are thousands of miles from each other, struggling for their lives. Gerhard is in the Battle of Stalingrad, his chances of survival dwindling day by day. Saffron is sent to occupied Belgium to discover the traitor within the SOE’s network. Soon the lovers will face an impossible choice: sacrifice themselves or do whatever they can to survive.

Maas is among new young adult titles along with “Vengeful” by V.E. Schwab.

New non-fiction titles are “Valley Forge” by Bob Drury, “Taking the Arrow Out of the Heart: Poems” by Alice Walker and “Killing the SS: the Hunt for the Worst War Criminals in History” by Bill O’Reilly.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles, “Wonderland” by Barbara O’Connor, “Hurricane Heroes in Texas” by Mary Pope Osborne and “City of Ghosts” by Victoria Schwab. Some of the newer easy books are “Click, Clack, Quack to School” by Doreen Cronin, “The Epic Origin of Super Potato” by artist, Artur Laperla, “Olive the Sheep Can’t Sleep” by Clementina Almeida and “Over the River and Through the Wood” by illustrated by Emma Randall.

“Good-Bye Autumn!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday’s throughout the year. Call anytime to hear a recorded story, Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
