Explore the different languages of comics, from the eyes, to body posture, to the language within speech bubbles on Thursday, June 12 from 1-3 p.m. with Jerry & Chet of Do Art Productions.  The workshop is interactive and creative with tricks and turns – and, after seeing how easy cartooning and creative expression can be, a group comic will be created using characters and creativity from the first half of the program! This program is suitable for all ages.

Call the library at 307-334-3490 to register for “Draw at the Library” on Wednesday, June 18 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

Sid Sibo, a park ranger, has written a novel entitled “The Scent of Distant Family.” Nik Delaney left a respected career in wildlife biology to return to Wyoming to care for her aging father, face a crumbling marriage, and parent Finn, the son of her antagonistic brother. Then Zolo, her foster dog, runs away. Nik’s search for Zolo introduces her to the eccentric residents of the high sagebrush. Even with her father’s life at stake, Nik resists relying on the desert’s scattered community. “Scent of Distant Family” is also available digitally in Libby.

Other new fiction books include “Course of Conduct” by James Chandler, “Hazardous to a Duke’s Heart” by Sabrina Jeffries, “To Light the Way Forward” by Nancy Naigle, “Siskiyou Trail” by B. N. Rundell, “A Mind of Her Own” by Danielle Steele, “A Killing Cold” by Kate Alice Marshall and “25 Alive” by James Patterson. Now available in the young adult section is “Burden Falls” by Kat Ellis.

“The Fate of the Day: the War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780” by Rick Atkinson is among new non-fiction books along with “Into the Ice: the Northwest Passage, the Polar Sun, and a 175-Year-Old Mystery” by Mark Synnott and “Fun With Gelli Plate Prints: Easy Mixed-Media Printmaking” by Sabine Ickler.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “Eliza and the Flower Faries” by Megan McDonald, “A Song of Swords and Stuffies” by Max Braillier and “Spy Penguin” series by Sam Hay. Among the newer picture books are “The Search for Carmella” by Chole Savage, “Duck, Duck, Goose” by John Hare, “Woo Hoo! You’re Doing Great!” by Sandra Boynton and “Grumpy Monkey: Mom for a Day” by Suzanne Lang.

“Happy Father’s Day” is the theme for Storyhour on June 10, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor Dial-a-Story, call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
