Afterschool programs begin Thursday, August 20 for children in grades 3-6 and they will be “Making Sense of Our Senses” throughout the 10-week program. Children in grades K-2 can jump aboard the “STEAM Train” to experience science, building, art & crafting – and there may even be a challenge or two. This series begins on Tuesday, August 25 and continues until October 30. Both programs are held from 3:35-4:45 p.m., call 307-334-3490 or stop by to register your children.
The first monthly Pajama Storyhour will be held on Wednesday, August 26 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. “Something Fishy” is definitely going on! Plan to attend!
The dynamic duo “Bettman & Halpin” will perform “Americana Songs & Stories” in concert on Friday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church. They play original Folk/Americana and their concerts combine high-energy upbeat bluegrass/roots inspired compositions, beautiful ballads with soaring vocals and heartfelt lyrics. You won’t want to miss this concert! Library programs are free and open to the public.
“Gotti” is the featured film in the “Organized Crime” Dinner & Movie series scheduled for Monday, August 31 at 6 p.m. The 1996 docudrama tells the story of the ‘Teflon Don’ – who rose through the ranks of the criminal underworld to become the head of the Gambino crime family and the most famous mobster in America… until it all came crashing down. The film is rated R and is 118 minutes. A light meal will be available.
“A Sociopath’s Guide to a Successful Marriage” is the title of a novel by debut author M.K. Oliver. Lalla Rook has a lot on her to-do-list: help her husband make partner, secure her dream home, get her daughter into a private school, host her four-year-old’s birthday party – and remove the dead body from her living room. As a wife and mother, she’s already an expert multitasker – so disposing of a body, framing a friend and remaining the world’s best homemaker should be easy to achieve… right? Oliver’s book is also available digitally in Libby.

Johnstone, plus a new western series “Frontier Scout” by Lane R. Warenski. A new book in the young adult section is “In the Heart of the Rockies” by G.A. Henty.
Among the newer non-fiction books is “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith” by J.D. Vance.
The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new books: “Deep Secrets: a Titanic novel” by Nikki Shannon Smith and “Framed In Paris” by Dan Yaccarino. Newer picture books include “My First Busy Jobs” by Sally Beets, “When the Sun Goes Down” by Greg Pizzoli, “Gigantic” by Rob Biddulph and “I Will Not Walk to School” by Naseem Hrab.
“Wonderful Weather!” is the theme for Storyhour on August 25, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
