The library will host two afterschool sessions this fall beginning the week of August 18, the programs begin at 3:35 p.m. and continue until 4:45 p.m.  “Out West” is the theme for children in grades K-2. Miss Tina has planned sessions where it will be a little wild and lots of fun with activities, crafts and some great stories! Get ready for a rompin’, stompin’ good time! Children in grades 3-6 will experience “It’s Rocky!” with Miss Barb. The afternoons include exciting experiments, crafts and activities involving all things earth science. Topics scheduled include volcanoes, rocks & minerals, fossils, the ocean and the weather! Call the library at (307) 334-3490 to register your children.  

“Route 66 – American Highways” is the theme for the fall book discussion series. Route 66 is one of the first national highways for motor vehicles in the United States and one that became an icon in American popular culture. In November of 2026 the route celebrates its 100thanniversary. The discussion series includes books that celebrate not only Route 66 but American Highways. Tina Kitras-Seaman returns to facilitate the series. Stop by the library to register and pick up the first book in the series, “Travels with Charley: In Search of America” by John Steinbeck.

“Edge of Honor” is Brad Thor’s latest novel. After six months abroad, Scott Harvath returns to the US and is thrust into a high stakes conspiracy that could change the course of history. A cabal of shadowy elites is maneuvering for control and if they succeed, they will bring the country to its knees. The action Scott takes will shape the future of America – and might cost him everything he holds dear. “Edge of Honor” is available digitally in Libby.

Other new fiction books include “Card, Kill Them All” by Monty R. Garner, “The Teacher of Auschwitz” by Wendy Holden, “Say You’ll Remember Me” by Abby Jimenez, “A Dead Draw” by Robert Dugoni, “A Constant Love” by Tracie Peterson, “One in Four” by Lucinda Berry and “Bloody Season” by Loren D. Estleman. “Clown in the Cornfield 3, the Church of Frendo” by Adam Cesare is among new young adult novels.

Caitlin Rother’s “Down to the Bone: a Missing Family’s Murder and the Elusive Quest for Justice” joins “Exploring Art Quilts with Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. in the non-fiction section.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Orris and Timble: Lost and Found” by Kate DiCamillo and new additions to “InvestiGators” by John Patrick Green. A few of the new easy books include “Orpheline” by Katelyn Aronson, “Fluffy McWhiskers Crunchazaur Kaboom” by Stephen W. Martin and “Bear and the Three Goldilocks” by Patrick Horne.

“Inside, Outside, Upside Down!” is the theme for Storyhour on August 19, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
