Historian Paul Hedren will present his newest book, “Sitting Bull’s War: The Battle of the Little Big Horn and the Fight for Buffalo and Freedom on the Plains” on Thursday, August 6 at 6 p.m. He will have copies of his book available for purchase and will be signing copies as well.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood will be discussed on Monday, August 10 at noon. This title is part of the Read & Feed Book Discussion series; copies may be picked up at the library.
“Our Perfect Storm” is the title of a novel by a new author Carley Fortune. Frankie and George have been best friends since they were eight years old. He’s to be the best man at her wedding. Then her fiancé dumps her one day after their wedding, leaving only a note. Crushed and confused Frankie returns to her family home to wallow, but George has a plan for healing Frankie’s broken heart – he wants her to go on her honeymoon… with him. “Our Perfect Storm” is also available in Libby.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new novels “On the Loose in London” by Dan Yaccarino and “Really Rubie” by Maddie Frost. Newer easy books include “Sunrise Sail” by Charles Trevino, “Ruby’s Tools for Fixing Mistakes” by Apryl Stott, “Time to Leave, Laverne” by Lana Button, “I Love You Like a River” by Nancy Tillman and “Pet Show!” by Ezra Jack Keats.
“Fairgrounds” is the theme for Storyhour on August 11, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The last Toddler Time of the summer will be on Wednesday, August 12 from 10:30-11 a.m. and will feature “Digger” stories and activities.
