The fun is on with the Friends of the Library Foam Party on Tuesday, August 4 from 6-7 p.m. This unique entertainment concept is fun for everyone – the foam is clean, fresh, biodegradable and guaranteed to bring sheer joy! Plan to wear clothes and shoes suitable for water and be sure to bring a towel. The Friends will also have Root Beer floats available.
Historian Paul Hedren will present his book, “Sitting Bull’s War: The Battle of the Little Big Horn and the Fight for Buffalo and Freedom on the Plains” on Thursday, August 6 at 6 p.m. In this deeply moving account of America’s greatest Indian war, readers are quickly immersed in the world of Lakotas and Northern Cheyennes and their futile struggle in the 1870s to retain a lifeway on the buffalo prairie. Hedrenis a retired National Park Service historian and superintendent whose thirty-seven-year career led him from Minnesota to Wyoming, Montana, Utah, North Dakota, and Nebraska. He’s also a life-long student of the Great Sioux War and a prolific writer. Most of his books are available to checkout at the library. Paul will have copies of “Sitting Bull” available for sale and for signing. Plan to attend.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “InvestiGATORS: Weather or Not” by John Patrick Green and “Europa” by James Ponti. Among the newer picture books are “Not Another Unicorn Story” by Christine Roussey, “Moon’s Lullaby” by Julia Moscardo, “Ocean Explorer: a Search & Find Book” by Carlee Jackson, “The Underwear Wolf” by Gideon Sterer and “Even Steven: a Book About Sharing” by Carrie Finison.
