The Friends of the Library present Ventriloquist Meghan Casey at the library on Friday, September 25 for Reading is FUN (RIF)! Meghan and her favorite puppets will entertain all ages at 1 p.m. Children will be able to select a book for their very own as well as enjoy a snack! Plan to attend!
“Mafia Mamma” is the second movie in the “Organized Crime” Dinner & Movie series and will be shown on Monday, September 28 at 6 p.m. An American mom inherits her grandfather’s mafia empire in Italy. Guided by the firm’s consigliere, she hilariously defies everyone’s expectations as the new head of the family business. The film is 97 minutes and rated R. A light meal will be available; library programs are free and open to the public.
“Leaves are Falling” is the theme for the Pajama Storyhour scheduled for Wednesday, September 30 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Miss Tina has stories, activities and more planned!
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 7 at 6 p.m. when Historian Rick Kaan will present his research related to the A. S. Mercer’s “Banditti on the Plains” and similar cattle wars in Montana and Texas which are tied to the Cattleman’s Invasion in Wyoming.
“The Spy Keeper of Marseille” by Roseanna M. White is grounded in the history of the real-life leader of the French Resistance’s network, “Alliance,” Marie-Madeleine Fourcade. After her husband was killed in the war, this woman became a spy and rose to lead the largest intelligence operation in the country. In the book, Zelie begins to rely on Marcel, a concert pianist, who has agreed to help the Alliance by putting on weekly broadcasts of his youth orchestra that gives him the perfect cover to send coded messages. Together they face hair-breath escapes and a dangerous web of espionage against the Germans. “The Spy Keeper of Marseille” is also available digitally.

A new young adult book is “Where He Can’t Find You” by Darcy Coates and a new series is “Above the Black” by Marc J. Gregson.
Among the newer non-fiction books is “An Arabian Journey: One Man’s Quest Through the Heart of the Middle East” by Levison Wood.
The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new novels “Yarn is Everything” by Aaron Reynolds, “Winging It” by Megan Wagner Lloyd and “The Trouble with Heroes” by Kate Messner. Several of the newer easy books are “Biscuit Plays Ball” by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, “Elvis & Romeo and the New Stuffie” by David Soman, “Dinosaur Day” by Edward Miller and “I Want Everything” by Sophy Henn.
“Healthy Heart Day!” is the theme for Storyhour on September 29, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children.
