The library will present classical guitarist Peter Fletcher in concert on Sunday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church. Peter’s solo recital is audience friendly and includes a repertoire that runs the gamut from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century. Plan to attend!

Wednesday, October 21 at 6 p.m. a Special Agent from the Denver Division of the FBI will present information on financial and online fraud that is currently affecting the entire country, including causing a great deal of harm here in Wyoming. He will also share ways on how people can protect themselves. Sure to be an interesting program.

“Goodfellas” is the featured movie for the Organized Crime Dinner & Movie series on Monday, October 26 at 6 p.m. Gangsters never refer to themselves as gangsters — they are made-men, wiseguys or “Goodfellas.” Martin Scorsese exposes the fascinating, mysterious and violent underworld of New York’s Mafia families through the life of insider Henry Hill as he rises from smalltime thug to mobster under the guidance of Jimmy Conway. This searing, epic crime drama based on the chilling true-life best seller Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi. The film is 148 minutes and rated R. A light meal will be available; library programs are free and open to the public.    

“God’s Country” is the latest novel by William Kent Krueger. Going on a family trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Cork O’Connor and his companions arrive at an abandoned campsite that shows signs of recent violence. Cork sends the others back to safety and begins to search for his missing friend Cordell Bishop, a renowned wilderness guide. He soon discovers Cordell’s disappearance is tied to a pair of dangerous criminals – the Kennedy brothers. Caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse Cork is forced to negotiate with the brothers in a desperate attempt to keep his friend alive. “God’s Country” is also available digitally.

Garner, “The Ties That Bind” by Linda Byler, “Brona” by Terry Brooks, “Paper Ghosts” by Sarah Addison Allen, “What is Left of the Night” by Mark Buchanan, “When the Silence Breaks” by Elizabeth Goddard and “Fool’s Gold” by William W. Johnstone. A new young adult book is “Gather” by Kenneth M. Cadow.

Among the newer non-fiction books is “Unbreakable Courage: Strong Faith in an Age of Anxiety, Chaos, and Exhaustion” by Max Lucado and “The 2027 Old Farmer Almanac.”

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior novels “Wyatt the Wild” by Jeff Miller and “Kidnapped from Ukraine: Under Attack” by Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch. Newer easy books are “Trick-or-Treaters on the Loose” by Laura Murray, “Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn” by Shannon Hale, “Someone Like Me” by Alison McGhee, “Carla’s Glasses” by Debbie Herman, “No More Chairs” by Dan Gill and “Bluey’s Heelerween” by Jessica Magro.

“Fierce Pumpkin!” is the theme for Storyhour on October 20, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
