The library will be closed on Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25, 2014 for Christmas. Regular hours resume at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 26.

Are you traveling for the holidays? The library has a large selection of music CD’s as well as books on CD for both children and adults. It’s also quite easy to download from OneClick Digital with their new app and HooplaDigital also has thousands of audiobooks, movies and music that are easy to download to your device. A new holiday novel available in several formats is “The Mistletoe Promise” by Richard Paul Evans. One November Elsie Dutton is approached by a stranger. He offers her a proposition – for the next 8 weeks they would pretend to be a couple. He draws up a contract with 4 rules and Elsie surprises herself by agreeing to the idea. As the charade progresses, the safety of the fake relationship begins to mend Elsie’s broken heart, but just as Elsie begins to find joy again, her long-held secret threatens the emerging romance…and she might not be the only one with a secret.

J. Kincaid and “Stolen” by Melissa de la Cruz are among new YA novels.

“Saving Simon: How a Rescue Donkey Taught Me the Meaning of Compassion” by John Katz is now available in the non-fiction section along with “Dreamers and Deceivers: True Stories of the Heroes and Villains Who Made America” by Glenn Beck and “Fields of Blood: Religion and the History of Violence” by Karen Armstrong.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books, “Mystery in the Whispering Woods” by Cathy Hapka and “Anna’s Icy Adventure” by Elise Allen. Some new easy titles are “The Christmas Show” by Rebecca Patterson, “The Gobble Gobble Moooooo Tractor Book” by Jez Alborough and “Starry, Starry Night” by Bill Scollon.
