The winter afterschool programs featuring Puppets! will begin on Tuesday, January 5 for first and second grade children and on Thursday, January 7 for children in the third, fourth and fifth grades. These programs are filled with stories, activities and crafts featuring puppets and will continue through the last week of February. Jeff Shaara’s newest novel, “No Less Than Victory” is now available in CD book format as well as print. This novel of World War II defines the spirit of the soldier and the horror of a mad man’s dreams. It presents an riveting account of the Battle of the Bulge through the eyes of Eisenhower, Patton and the young G.I.’s, who struggled face-to-face with their enemy.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new titles: “Land Keep” by J. Scott Savage, “The Great Death” by John Smelcer and “Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary” by Brandon Mull. Also available are “First Ballet” by Dianna Caswell, “What Sisters Do Best/What Brothers Do Best” by Laura Numeroff and “Olivia Forms a Band” by Ian Falconer.
“Snowmen!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, January 5 and Thursday, January 7. This weekly program is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
