Registration is now being taken for the fall weekly afterschool programs for children in the first through fifth grades. “AEI and O for U” is the theme for children in the first and second grade and begins on Tuesday, September 8 and continues through Tuesday, October 27. Children in the third, fourth and fifth grades will enjoy a program focused on “Brain Games” which will be held each Thursday, beginning September 10 through October 29. These programs both begin at 3:20 and end at 4:30 p.m. Children’s Librarian, Yvonne Jensen has lots of fun activities and books planned so call the library at 334-3490 to register your children.
A new mystery book is “Fire and Ice” by J. A. Jance. J. P. Beaumont is working a series of murders where the charred remains of five women have been found in various dump sites around the state of Washington. When a sixth victim turns up, a breakthrough sends him to Cochise County, Arizona where Sheriff Joanna Brady is investigating a homicide of an ATV caretaker. As the threads of these seemingly separate cases wind together, Beaumont and Brady find themselves drawn into an orbit of deception that not only puts their lives in danger but those of the people closest to them as well.

New non-fiction books are “Cooking Well: Multiple Sclerosis” by Chef Marie-Annick Courtier, “The Six Ways of Atheism” by Geoffery Berg and “Warlord Cowboys in China: The Fred Bartow Story of the World’s Greatest Horse Drive” by Larry Weirather.
New books for the young adults are “Triskellion” and “Triskellion 2” by Will Peterson and “Being Nikki” by Meg Cabot.
New books in the Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library include “Saxby Smart, Private Detective: the Curse of the Ancient Mask and Other Case Files” by Simon Cheshire, “The Potato Chip Puzzles” by Eric Berlin, “No!” by David McPhail and “A Visitor for Bear” by Bonny Becker.
“Traffic Jam” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 3. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
