Northside Cafe to Open Soon

A new cafe, the Northside Cafe, is to be opened next week by George Ferguson and son Lloyd, owners of the Northside Service Station. This cafe is to be a short order cafe and will be open from 8:00a.m. until 12: p.m.

An addition has been constructed to the filling station building to house the cafe. The owners plan to offer 24-hour service at a later date.

Charles Bates Buys Northside Cafe

Charles Bates, who recently purchased the Northside Cafe from Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wright, now has the cafe redecorated and is operating it on a regular schedule. He invites the people of this area to stop there for all kinds of lunches, snacks, and meals.

Mr. Bates is well-known here having moved to Lusk in Feb. of 1951 to become employed by the Niobrara Electric association. Mrs. Bates is employed as bookkeeper at the Plains Equipment Co. The family has three boys , Charles, 10, and Robert and Jerry, 9. Mr. Bates is a veteran of World War II serving with the 302nd Construction Battalion of the Seebees. He has served in Lusk as assistant Cubmaster.
