Silver Spur Cafe Opens Sunday Evening
The Silver Spur Cafe in the Ranger Hotel opened last Sunday evening and is now operating on a 24- hour -per-day schedule. A grand opening will be held Saturday, July 12.
The cafe is housed in the quarters which were previously occupied by McKnight's Clothing store. A modernistic western theme featuring false beams and sand blasted pine was used in the remodeling.
The cafe was leased by Monroe Bixler from William Powell, owner of the Ranger Hotel, and will be operated by Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jackson. Mr. Jackson's ability as a chef has already been recognized. Mrs. Beverly Fernau is cashier and bookkeeper and the waitresses include Dorothy Rae Percival, Judy Sullivan, Dian Moody, Susan Worley, and Joan Fleming.
Some of the fixtures, including a large neon sign, have not yet arrived.
