Be sure to come by the Friends of the Library Book Sale and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 27. There are many books for both children and adults that are sure to please!

If you haven't registered for the No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament there are still spaces available. For more information contact Tom Dooper (334-2013), Lisa Pischel (334-2532) or the library (334-3490) for more information. The event will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Barn. Tickets are $35 and include lunch.

The Niobrara County Library Foundation is privileged to participate in St. George's Episcopal Church's Mustard Seed Project. Be sure to come and enjoy a free barbeque prepared by library foundation members on Wednesday, July 1 from 5-7 p.m. on the church lawn.

The movie, "Kit Kittredge" will be shown on Thursday, July 2 at 1 p.m. Based on the American Girl series, this movie is rated G and 101 minutes.

A new mystery book is "Intent to Kill" by James Grippando. Ryan James was a baseball player poised for the major leagues until the hit-and-run death of his wife, Chelsea destroyed his dream. He's getting by as a popular "shock jock" at a Boston radio station and trying to raise his six year-old daughter on his own when he receives a note claiming the accident was intentional... on the third anniversary of his wife's death.

Other new fiction books include "Caught" by Lori Foster, "Dead Lock" by Iris Johansen, "Best Laid Plans" by Nora Roberts, "Mr. and Miss Anonymous" by Fern Michaels, "Home Safe" by Elizabeth Berg and "Return of the Mountain Man" by William W. Johnstone.

New non-fiction books are "The NDD Book: How Nutrition Deficit Disorder Affects Your Child's Learning, Behavior, and Health, and What You Can Do About It - Without Drugs" by William Sears, M.D., "Reclaiming Virtue: How We Can Develop the Moral Intelligence to Do the Right Thing at the Right Time For the Right Reason" by John Bradshaw and "Horse Soldiers: the Extraordinary Story of a Band of U.S. Soldiers Who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan" by Doug Stanton.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new easy titles "The Box That Watch Found" by Gertrude Chandler Warner, "The Cry of the Loon" by Barbara Steiner and "Sarah the Sunday Fairy" by Daisy Meadows. New easy titles are "The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster" by David Conway and "I Am Batman" by Catherine Hapka.

"Fireworks" is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 30 and Thursday, July 2. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
