Happy New Year! The library will be closed December 31, 2010. Regular library hours resume January 3, 2011.

Registration is now being accepted for the afterschool programs which begin January 4 and 6 for children in the first through fifth grades. Call or stop by to register your children.

Also, the winter series "Steeds Reads @ the Library" begins this January with a variety of programs featuring horses. Books are available to pick up for the first discussion; "Half Broke Horses" by Jeannette Walls will be discussed at 6:30 p.m. on February 2. For more information and to register for the book series stop by the library or call 334-3490.

The conclusion of Nora Robert's Bride Quartet is "Happy Ever After." Wedding planner, Parker Brown can handle anything and any one with aplomb, making every wedding the perfect day for her clients. Nothing and no one rattles her until her brother's friend unexpectedly kisses her one day after helping her fix her flat tire. Parker dismisses the kiss as his flirtatious nature, but there's something about this man with the twinkling eyes that melts her cool reserve.

Other new fiction books are "Moonlight Mile" by Dennis Lehane, "Daughter of Darkness" by V. C. Andrews, "Edge" by Jeffery Deaver, "Invincible" by Joan Johnston, "The Identity Man" by Andrew Klavan, "Witchcraft" by Jayne Ann Krentz and "Dead Man's Tale" by James Doss. "Crescendo" by Becca Fitzpatrick is available in the YA section.

New non-fiction books are "Broke: the Plan to Restore Our Trust, Truth, and Treasure" by Glenn Beck, "Dewey's Nine Lives: the Legacy of the Small-Town Library Cat Who Inspired Millions" by Vickie Myron and "Conversations With Myself" by Nelson Mandela.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, "Courage to Ride" by Bernadette Kelly, "Back on the Beam" by Jake Maddox and "The Ghost Writer Secret" by Mac Barnett. New easy titles include "The Desperate Dog Writes Again" by Eileen Christelow, "Bugs on the Bus" by Paul Orshoski and "Pat, Cat, And Rat" by Sindy McKay.
