The library will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 for New Year’s. Regular hours resume on Thursday. Happy New Year!

It’s time to register for the winter book discussion series, “We the People.” The series is an exploration of our country’s founding through the United States Constitution and the Electoral College. Delegates met in Philadelphia to design a radically new form of government in May 1787 and historian Richard Beeman captures the dynamic of the debate and the characters of the men who labored that historic summer in the first book in the series, “Plain, Honest Men: the Making of the Constitution.” This book will be discussed on Monday, February 3 at 6 p.m. and Barb Baker returns to lead the book discussion series; call (307) 334-3490 or stop by the library to register and pick up the first book in the series. “Documents of Revolution” by Founding Fathers and “Why We Need the Electoral College” by Tara Ross will round out the series.

Visit the library’s website: http://niobraracountylibrary.org for information about digital resources including ebooks, digital audio and music as well as movies and television to download. Magazines are also available to download through RBDigital! Your library card number and PIN give you access.

Nelson DeMille’s latest novel is “The Deserter.” A video released by Captain Kyle Mercer’s Taliban captor makes national headlines. Did this member of the Army’s Elite Delta Force desert before he was captured? When Mercer is spotted a year later in Venezuela, Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor of the Criminal Investigation Division are sent to bring Mercer back to America - preferably alive. A mission made more difficult by Brodie’s suspicion that Taylor is reporting to the CIA.

Other new fiction books are “The Night Fire” by Michael Connelly, “Castaway Cottage” by Joanne DeMaio, “Blue Moon” by Lee Child” “Where She Went” by Kelly Simmons, “Empire of Lies” by Raymond Khoury, “Alaskan Catch” by Sue Pethick, “Unscripted” by Davis Bunn, “The Fountains of Silence” by Ruth Sepetys and “Synapse” by Steven James. “Shout” by Laurie Halse Anderson joins other new young adult books.
