The “We the People” Dinner & Movie series continues on Monday, February 24 with the film, “Advise & Consent” at 6 p.m. Robert Leffingwell is the president's nominee for Secretary of State. Prior to his approval he must go through a Senate investigation to determine if he's qualified. Leading the Senate committee is idealistic Senator Brig Anderson, who soon finds himself unprepared for the opposition and political dirt that's revealed. Deane Tucker returns to lead the discussion and a light meal will be available. Library programs are free and open to the public.

Chrisanna Lund will present “Peru” in “Around the World” at the library on Tuesday, February 25 at 6 p.m. Chrisanna and two friends backpacked 37 miles over four days on the original Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Plan to attend!

Ryan Yung returns to the library on Thursday, February 27 with the seminar, Stocks: The Nuts and Bolts which looks at common versus preferred stock, dividends, investment strategy and different ways to own stock. The session is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the library.

“Big Lies in a Small Town” is the title of Diane Chamberlain’s latest novel. Morgan Christopher takes the fall for a crime she did not commit and her dream of a career in art is put on hold. Then a mysterious visitor makes her an offer that will get her released from prison immediately. Her assignment: restore an old post office mural in a sleepy southern town. What she finds under the layers of grime is a painting that tells a story of madness, violence, and a conspiracy of small-town secrets. This book is also available in Overdrive and the Cloud Library, your library card number and PIN will give you access.

Other new fiction books are “Silent Knit, Deadly Knit” by Peggy Ehrhart, “The Lily of the West” by Kathleen Morris, “The Lights of Cimarron” by Jim Jones, “Risk It All” by Katie Ruggle, “Moral Compass” by Danielle Steel, “Ghost Fleet: a novel of the next world war” by P.W. Singer, “The Country Guesthouse” by Robyn Carr, “A Plain Vanilla Murder” by Susan Wittig Albert and “Lost” by James Patterson. “The Queen of Nothing” by Holly Black is among new young adult books.

New on the non-fiction shelf are “Moon Yellowstone to Glacier National Park Road Trip” by Carter G. Walker, “Love and Life” by Dr. Laura Schlessinger and “Killing the Planet: How a Financial Cartel Doomed Mankind” by Rodney Howard-Browne.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles, “Echo Park Castaways” by M.G. Hennessey, “In the Hall With the Knife” by Diana Peterfreund and “Roll With It” by Jamie Sumner. A few of the newer easy books are “The Day Punctuation Came to Town” by Kimberlee Gard, “Arrivederci, Crocodile or See You Later, Alligator” by Fred Marcellino, “When the Snow is Deeper Than My Boots Are Tall” by Jean Reidy and “Bad Dog” by Mike Boldt.

“Pancake Day!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. Call 334-3274 any time to hear a recorded story. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
