The Lusk Herald, May 14, 1942

Emmett Fahy, 43, resident of the Flattop community for many years, was killed instantly at the Sunrise coal mine Tuesday morning at 9:30 when he fell under a group or ore cars.

According to Coroner C. Stewart Dennis of Wheatland, whom the Herald called, Fahy was in charge of dumping the ore cars as they came out of the mine. Following the dumping he lost control of the string of 12 as the brakes failed to hold and they started traveling down the incline. When the string crashed into a loaded car Fahy was thrown under the wheels. The jar also started the loaded car on down.

Several witnessed the accident, but Fahy was killed instantly and aid was useless. No inquest was held.

The body was brought to Lusk by the Peet Mortuary late Tuesday and funeral services are being held from St. Leo's Catholic Church at Lusk Friday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Fr. Andrew conducting High Mass.

Besides his wife and a daughter, whose name was not learned, his mother, Mrs. Mary Fahy at Flattop, and two brothers and two sisters survive, Arthur and Willis Fahy of the Flattop vicinity, Mrs. Harvey Bonner of Guernsey who is now in a Denver hospital with broken legs as a result of a recent car accident, and Mrs. Florence Rogers of Denver. The condition of Mrs. Bonner was such that she was not advised of her brother's death.
