Service held for Jane Ellis

Memorial service for Jane L. Ellis were conducted at the Peet Memorial Chapel in Lusk on June 11, 1977, with Rev. Frank Blish officiating. Active bearers were Ed Boner, Jim Thompson, Stan Wasson, Bud Watson, Chuck Bruch, Al Taylor, Don Whiteaker, Gene Lenz, Bob Templeton and Dale Fullerton. Mrs. Jane Bardo was organist and Mrs. Marilyn Cockreham sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "The End of a Perfect Day." Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Memorials to Niobrara County Nursing home will be appreciated by the family.

The death of Mrs. Ellis followed an automobile accident south of Jay Em on June 9, when she was returning to Lusk from Torrington.

Jane L. Ellis was born October 2, 1903 to James and Maude Johnson Riser of Muncie, Ind. After losing her mother at an early age, she and her father moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she became the youngest student at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Later, Mrs. Ellis and her father moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where she graduated from South High School. While in Youngstown she attended Dana School of Music and became an accomplished musician, playing the piano, organ and saxophone.

On July 12, 1921, Jane Riser was married to Paul M. Ellis in Youngstown and in 1930 they moved to Warren Ohio, where she served as president of the Trumball Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for two years.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis raised a family of four; two daughters, Rae Lou Devine, Norfolk, VA. and Audrey J. Pfister, Lusk and two sons, Dr. Paul J. Ellis, deceased and Robert M. Ellis of Lusk.

In July 1061, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis moved to Lusk and purchased the Ranger Florist Shop. Mr. Ellis died on April 28, 1963 but Mrs. Ellis continued to manage the florist shop until March, 1975.

She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Besides her two daughters and one son, Mrs. Ellis is survived by twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dr. and Mrs. Charles Devine, Norfolk, VA. and their son Paul Devine, who lives in Casper were in Lusk to attend the funeral service.
