Raymond Wilbur "Bud" Ellis

Funeral services for Raymond Wilbur "Bud" Ellis were held Feb. 19, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, with Pastor Tom Stock and Pastor Fred Dyer officiating. Interment followed in the Manville cemetery.

Raymond "Bud" Ellis died Feb. 15, 2003, in Douglas, after a long battle with cancer.

Raymond Wilbur Ellis was born May 30, 1930, at Crawford, Neb., to Wilbur and Minnie Buckley Ellis.

Bud went to school at Crawford, and later attended the Curly Rural School in Sioux County, Neb,

He married Pauline Hess on Sept. 12, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Crawford.

Bud made his commitment to the Lord and was baptized in 1962, at the Methodist Church in Crawford. Bud and Pauline were members of the church.

They later transferred their membership to the First Baptist Church in Lusk. Bud was a Deacon of the church for six years.

Bud worked at the Frank Harris Ranch when they were married, later moving to Whitney, Neb., to work on a farm. He also worked on the Hop Vinton Ranch south of Gordon, Neb.

Later they moved back to Crawford, where Bud worked for the Co-op gas station, then Missouri Valley Construction and the Harold Cook Ranch at Agate, Neb.

They moved to Lusk in 1959. Bud worked at the Conoco station, Ford garage, Smylie Vet Clinic, South Side Truck Stop, Kwik Stop, Niobrara County, Mac Jack, Transystem Trucking and worked at the Joss Ranch for seven years.

He also operated Ellis and Sons Trucking and Construction.

In September 2001, they moved to Douglas, because of Bud's health. They were still able to enjoy doing things until the last two months of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pauline of Douglas; three sons, Dennis of Douglas, David of Casper, and Douglas and his wife Sharon of Helena, Mont.; four grandchildren, Tasha and Windi Ellis, T. J. and Kyle Ellis; two sisters, Alma Smith and Betty Grove of Crawford.

Memorials may be made to the High School Rodeo Scholarship Fund in Bud's memory. Contributions may be sent to the Converse County Bank, Drawer 689, Douglas, WY 82633.

Cicmanec Pier Funeral Home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
