Marcus Cook

Marcus, 26, was born at 7:40 a.m. in the worst storm of the year, the doctor beat him to the hospital by five minutes; this is the story of Marcus' life, always energetic and ready to go.

He was born and raised in Lusk, attending both elementary and high school before traveling for most of his adulthood. He'd been from Malibu to Florida, Montana to Mexico and everywhere in between. He loved the mountains, outdoors, hiking and fresh open spaces. After settling in Utah he found one of his favorite activities to be taking his sons to the park on Sundays to show them the world outside.

Unbeknownst to many, he was a man of a deeply sensitive, fragile manner and was known by those that loved him to be sweet, charming and a good soul. In society's eyes he may have been a man of few accomplishments, but to his sisters he was a rock, a man full of heart and the best friend to be had.

Marcus was a pillar of strength to his sisters and mother, proving he could walk again despite a broken back and survive life's various challenges for the majority of his short life. His loyalty and heart will always be remembered.

Marcus loved his family and his children very deeply and is to this day loyal to their happiness, though not here physically always around in spirit. He will be missed everyday that he's gone but remembered forever for his smile, laugh and random acts of simple kindness.

Marcus is survived by his mother, Ramona D. Harris, father, Dean Harris, his sisters Shawnee K. Brown and Bethany Skye Cook, both of Austin, Texas, three beautiful sons, Zachary, of Lusk, and Addiston and Treyston of Midvale, Utah, an aunt, Tina Crecilious of Pensacola, Fla., an uncle, Ray Cook of David City, Neb., grandparents Gene and Joan Harris of Torrington, David Cook of Lusk, his lifelong friends Will Winters of Ogden, Utah and Martin "Stormy" Shoopman of Riverton and several cousins, including Sean Dreesen of Lusk. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Esther V. Cook and sister Ginny Lee Cook.

A wake honoring his life occurred Nov. 18 in Lusk and a private, close family gathering will be held to scatter his ashes in the mountains, where he will finally be free.
