Last Rites Held For Ed Herren

Funeral services were held the afternoon of May 22 at Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison for Martin Edward Herren who had died May 19 at Chadron.

The Rev. J. Lee Gorman officiated, Mrs. Robert Todd was organist, and Mrs. Ted King, Mrs. William Renning, Mrs. Charles Mumby and Miss Lilly Larsen sang two songs. Pallbearers were Dale DeHaven, Lawrence Lewis, A. F. Partridge, Tom Broderick, Morris Engebretsen and Johnny Marsteller. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.

Mr. Herren was born May 11, 1883 to Martin and Mary Nelson Herren in Grant City, Mo. He married Retta Anstey on May 10, 1908 in Solomon, Kan. She died November 5, 1965.

Mr. and Mrs. Herren homestead south of Van Tassell in Goshen County, Wyo., in 1912. They sold that place and moved to Harrison in 1947 where he spent the remaining years of his life.

Surviving are five children: George Herren of Crawford, Hilda Teske of Torrington, Wyo., Clyde Herren of Brawley, Calif., Dick Herren of Harrison and Coza Mae Shelley of Riverside, Calif. There are 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
