Ruby Olive (Benshoof) Hahn, 94, died July 18, 1996, in Goshen Care Center. Services were Monday, July 22, 1996, in the Methodist Church in Torrington. Burial was in the Torrington cemetery. The casket was closed. Memorials are to the First Methodist Church in Torrington cemetery or to the Forest Mound Chapel in Jay Em. Colyer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Oct. 27, 1901, the fifth of five children to Perry and Rozella Benshoof near Wayne, Neb. When she was 11 years old, she moved with her family to their homestead east of Jay Em. She attended school in her brother's homestead, which was across the road from her parent's place. Her sister, Inez, was the teacher. Later, Ruby had a homestead of her own south of Torrington.

After graduating from Torrington High School in 1923, she went to summer school at Ellendale, S.D. and the next summer at Kearney, Neb., in preparation to teach. She taught at Lacys' northwest of Lusk, at Star School north of Van Tassell, and at Jacobsons'near Prairie Center.

She married Reuben Hahn May 1, 1926, in the parsonage next to the Methodist Church in Torrington. They had four children.

The Prairie Center Church and Sunday School were a vital part of her life. She also was involved in 4-H as a leader for six years, and was a member of the Women's Legion Auxiliary. After raising their family, the couple moved to Torrington in 1968, where they were active members of the First Methodist Church. She was active in WTCU. Her husband died in 1985 and in December 1989, Ruby moved from her home into Evergreen Court. In July of 1995, she moved into the Goshen Care Center.

She has been a beloved mother and grandmother-"we have loved her dearly and have respected her greatly for her love of the Lord."

Survivors include sons and their wives Merle and Phyllis Hahn of Lusk and Wayne and Mary Hahn of Torrington; daughters and their husbands Bernita and Leo Fowler of Laurel, Mont., and Arlene and Alan Arnold of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; brother Lundy Benshoof, Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.
