John Wesley Hitshew
John Wesley Hitshew, a native of Lusk, died in his Antioch, Calif., home on January 4. He was born in Lusk July 1, 1912, son of Sherd and Katie Hitshew and was a graduate of Lusk High School.
Mr. Hitshew was a graduate of the University of Wyoming and a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy during World War I. He owned and operated the Hitshew Bootery in Antioch for 18 years before becoming a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Walnut Creek, Calif. He retired in 1973.
Funeral service was held at Higgins Funeral Home in Antioch on Jan. 7. Cremation and interment followed at the Oak View Memorial Park in Antioch.
Contributions to the American Heart Assn. or a favorite charity are preferred by the family.
He is survived by his wife Lily Santavicca Hitshew of Antioch, sisters, Ida Siegle, Ely, Nev., Steill Bacheller, Casper, Elva Costin, Sun City, Ariz., and Juliana Saul of Douglas.
