Judith Poage Wright

Memorial services for Judith Wright, 57, will be held at 2 p.m. on July 12, at the Lighthouse Ministries with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed either to the Niobrara County Hospital in Lusk, Wyoming or to a memorial of the donor's choice. Judy died at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.

Judy was born March 11, 1947 in Torrington, the daughter of David and Gertrude (Carroll) Poage and grew up on a ranch near Keeline, Wyo., where she received her early education. She graduated high school in Lusk, Wyo., and then went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming with degrees in Home Economics and Journalism. While in college, she married David Wright and they were later divorced. She moved to Irvine, Calif., where she not only raised two fine boys but also had been actively involved in many different organizations in the Irvine and surrounding areas. Along with being an active member of several churches, she was also involved in a number of non-profit organizations, as well s being an executive director for the Irvine Senior Foundation. She was also very active in the fund raising, development and construction of the Irvine Senior Center, along with helping to raise funds to operate the center. After Judy left the Irvine Senior Foundation, she started her own business providing advice, support and grant-writing services for a number of non-profit groups. During this period, Judy received her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. This was a major achievement of which she was very proud.

Judy was an extremely giving person. Throughout her life, Judy has helped improve the lives of hundreds of people including the homeless, battered women, senior citizens, and many other similar groups. She always had time to help those who could not help themselves. At the same time she was a loving mother and guided her two sons, along with a number of their friends, through the perils of growing up. She was a wonderful, talented, and giving person and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

She was a member of several honoraries, which included Iron Skull, Omicron Delta Kappa, Chimes, Phi Upsilon Omicron (National Home Economics Honorary Society) and Pi Delta Epsilon (National Journalism Honorary Society). She was also associate editor of the University of Wyoming Yearbook in 1968.

She is survived by her sons Adam Wright and his wife Karyn of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Luke Wright of Irvine, Calif.; her mother and stepfather Gertrude and Dave Eddington of Torrington; and a brother and his wife David and Sharla Poage of Arkansas City, Kans. Her father preceded her in death.
