E. O. Kint, 84, long-time rancher in the Royal Valley Community, died of cancer at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held from the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Thursday with Otha B. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Epra Otis Kint was born in Oelwein, Iowa Oct. 15, 1874, one of seven born to Mr. and Mrs. George Kint. In 1892 he went to Royal, Neb. to visit his uncle, Milburn D. Sparks, liked the area and spent several years there.

He and Miss Augusta Herin (Hering) were married Dec. 23, 1896.

The couple lived in the vicinity of Royal until 1903 when they moved into that town. During their 12 years residence there Mr. Kint operated the meat market, was manager of the elevator, bought livestock and was engaged in the implement business. He was a member of the Royal band for a number of years.

After leaving Royal, Mr. and Mrs. Kint and daughter Bernice came to this vicinity and Mr. Kint homesteaded in Royal Valley south of Lusk. In 1922 they moved to a fruit farm near Grand Junction, Colo. and in the same year went back to Oelwein, Iowa where they remained for five years. In 1927 they returned to Royal Valley and the homestead accompanied by their daughter, Mrs. Roger Cowell and Mr. Cowell.

Mr. Kint engaged in painting for a number of years but was forced to give it up on account of ill health.

He was an outstanding member of the Royal Valley Community and always interested in community projects.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Roger Cowell, lately of Royal Valley and now of Loveland, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Beulah Wilcoxen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three granddaughters; Mrs. Ted Jones of Bright, Mrs. Aaron Culver of Portland, Maine and Donnabelle Cowell at home; and six great-grandchildren: Bradley, Rodney and Hollis Jones; Philip, Sharon and Curtis Culver.
