Otto Herman Krekeler

Services for Otto Herman Krekeler, 75, will be held Friday, October 7, 1988 at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk. Jess Reeves will officiate. He died October 3, 1988.

He was born in Deshler, NE on April 8, 1913 to Conrad and Edith Krekeler. He received his education in Gothenburg, NE, graduating from high school in 1931. He attended Capital College of Pharmacy in Denver, CO, receiving his Wyoming Pharmacy license in 1934.

After working in various drug stores he came to Lusk in 1937. He worked for Frank Viele and later A. G. (Jess) Willard. On October 12, 1941 he married Bertha M. Baughn. Two sons were born to this union, Randall Dee and Richard Ray.

In 1947 Mr. Krekeler and Herb Klindt purchased the drug store from Jess Willard and maintained the partnership until they sold the store to Mr. and Mrs. Pat Sperry in May 1983. He received his 50th year Pharmacy Certificate from the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy in 1984.

Mr. Krekeler served in the U.S. Navy from February of 1944 to November of 1945, working as a pharmacist in the naval hospital in Bremerton, WA and Farragut, ID.

He was active in the American legion Post #4 and served as Commander in 1956 and 1957. He served as chairman of the House Committee from 1957 until his health caused him to resign. He was a charter member of the American Legion Wieten-Dupes Post #4 of Lusk for 43 years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, St. George's Episcopal Church and has served as a vestry member. He also served as mayor of Lusk in 1950-1951.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Erica and one brother, Richard.

Survivors include his wife of the family home; two sons, Randall of Anaheim, CA and Richard of Allen, TX; one grandson, Randall Jr.; one granddaughter, Katherine Anne; two daughters-in-law, Sandy and M. Jo; one sister, Irmgard Wiren of Sacramento, CA; one brother Alfred of San Antonio, TX; three nieces and one nephew.

For those who wish memorials to the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital or to St. George's Episcopal Church would be appreciated by the family.
