Early Resident Here Dies in Colorado

Abigal Stehr Orcutt, early resident of Sioux County, died February 28 in Melissa Memorial Hospital at Holyoke, Colo. Funeral services were held March 3 at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Grant, Nebr. and burial was in the cemetery there.

Abigal Orcutt was born in Nova Scotia to John W. and Margaret Hunter, Feb. 8, 1876. She moved with her parents in 1885 across the Dakotas by covered wagon to settle in the Hat Creek area bear Bodarc.

She married John T. Fitzgerald on Aug. 13, 1893. They had four children, John Fitzgerald of Ft. Collins, Colo.; Mary Margaret Lyon, James Edward Fitzgerald and William Hunter Fitzgerald of Grant, Nebr.; all are surviving

After the death of John T. Fitzgerald in 1905 she married Harry Stehr in 1909 and moved to Grant, Nebr., where they owned and operated the Grant Hotel for many years.

After the death of Mr. Stehr in 1948 she married Charles Orcutt. After his death she resided in Ft. Collins, Colo. and at the Sheridan Manor in Holyoke, Colo.

She is survived by two brothers, Jack Hunter of Ardmore, S.D.; Tom Hunter of Casper, Wyo.; sisters, Mabel Jordan of Miles City, Mont., and Myrtle Points of Rushville, Nebr.; seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
