Durl Ray Holtz
Services were held Friday, June 26 for Durl Ray Holtz, 54, in the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Harrison, NE with the Rev. Lee Wisortch officiating. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.
Mr. Holtz died in his Lusk home on Sunday, June 21, 1987. He was born Sept. 14, 1932 at Harrison, the son of Paul and Ruby Holtz. He grew up on the family ranch north of Harrison. He attended school in Harrison, graduating from Sioux County High School in 1951. He was baptized and confirmed at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrison and remained an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lusk.
He married Carol Lee Jordan on June 9, 1958. They had one daughter, Dixie, who died at birth. Mrs. Holtz died in 1981. In 1960, Kendy and Pam Rising joined their family and grew up in their home.
Mr. Holtz was active in ranching, square dancing, the Rawhide Pageant and with his family.
He worked at several area ranches before going to work for the Wyoming Highway Department more than 20 years ago.
Besides his wife and daughter, Mr. Holtz was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: one brother, Verne Holtz of Harrison; two sisters, Marilyn Hutchinson of Riverton and Dolly Rising of Harrison; Pam Rising of Whittier, CA and Kendy Rising of Wheatland, and a host of relatives and friends.
