Funeral services for Elgie I. Pilgrim, 78, were April 2, 1997, at St. Leo's Catholic Church with the Rev Patrick Shea officiating.
Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.
Memorials are to the Gillette Hospice Center.
He died March 30, 1997, at his home in Gillette. He was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Elmore County, Alabama.
He received his education in the Elmore County Schools and joined the army in 1938 and served seven years.
He married LaVonne Serres in Harrison, Neb., in June of 1945.
He went to work for Continental Oil Company in Lance Creek and was later transferred to Brush, Colo.
They were then transferred to Gillette in 1969, where he worked before retiring due to ill health in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Charles in 1982; two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of Gillette; daughter Vickie and son-in-law Victor Griggs of Denver; sister in Alabama; many nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law Dorothy Pilgrim; two children, and five children all of Oregon.
Bader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
