Twinkle Louvain Baars

Services were held for Twinkle Louvain Baars on Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Lusk, at Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home and officiated by Rev. Delbert Dick, with a coffee hour following at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Dearly loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Twinkle Louvain Baars, age 89, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, in Wheatland.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1917, to Joseph and Pearl Boyles in Lynch, Neb., she was a sister to four brothers, Gene, Donald, Eldon and Reed, and three sisters, Mardell, Wilda and Betty. They were a farming family who lived in Nebraska and Wyoming. She graduated from high school in Van Tassell, in the class of 1936.

She married Wilmer H. Baars Oct. 21, 1936. They were farmers and ranchers in the area of Van Tassell and Keeline. They raised two children, Dewey and Dorothy. Before the couple retired to Torrington, she was a mother, housewife, postmistress and school bus driver.

Twinkle enjoyed an active volunteer life in her community and church. Throughout her life she took great pleasure in being a member of the American Missionary Fellowship, the Rex Young Rock Club, the 5280 Club, a 4-H Leader, and the First Congregational Church of Torrington. She was an avid collector, creating extensive collections of rocks, stamps, pens and pencils, antique glass, and cups and saucers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer, two sisters, Mardell and Betty, and three brothers, Donald, Eldon, and Reed.

She is survived by her son Dewey (Janice) Baars of Wheatland; her daughter Dorothy Baars of Englewood, Colo.; her brother Gene Boyles of Torrington; her sister Wilda Osburn of Oklahoma; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
