Ira Roth Dies In Hot Springs

Ira R. Roth, 65, a former resident of Lance Creek, died in the Veterans Hospital in Hot Springs Saturday after an illness of three years.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Victor Ireland of Harrison in charge. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, Mrs. Sam Thomas, Jr., Harry Lyon and Dave Wood sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Active pallbearers were Fred Sheaman, Henry Stiles, Bill Hoblit, Raymond Christianson, Tommy Stokes and Glen Langley. Honorary bearers were Henry Wasserburger, Albert DeGering, Ivan Maxwell, Hans Gautschi, Bill Smyth, Marvin Skillings, Woodson Graham and Chet Stubson. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery with Masonic and military services at the graveside.

Ira Raymond Roth was born in Chariton, Ia. January 22, 1896, the son of Reuben and Lillian Roth. As a child, he moved to Illinois with his parents. He joined the armed forces and served overseas during World War I. After his discharge he came to Wyoming, homesteading in the Lance Creek area. Later he was employed by the Ohio Oil Company where he worked until 1942.

He married Irene Thomas Stevenson in 1936 and they were the parents of three children, Dorothy Curl of Edgemont, Marlene and Thomas at home. He was a member of the Baptist Church, VFW and American Legion in Hot Springs, and of the Masonic Lodge in Lusk.

Survivors include his wife and three children; two brothers, Arthur Roth of Canada and Reuel Roth Hill City, S. Dak.; and one grandchild, Everett Curl.
