Jake Davies dead at 63
A memorial service was held at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk Saturday afternoon for Marvin "Jake" Davies, 63, who died Oct. 13, 1977 at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital.
Jake was born on Nov. 8, 1913 in Windsor, Mo. He grew up in Bokoshe, Okla. where he was married to Marguerite Thomas Oct. 6, 1945.
Jake and Marge moved to Wyoming in 1945. In 1955 he became the bulk agent for Sinclair. In 1968 he switched to Texaco and was the Texaco consignee from then until his death.
Jake served in the armed forces in World War II, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Oklahoma and was active in the baseball program in Lusk, especially little league.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Marguerite; one son Doyle of Lusk; two daughters Bobby Brady, Laramie, and Susie Owsley, Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial fund has been established for the little league teams.
The Rev. Robert Norris, Douglas, presided. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung. The body was taken to Denver for cremation.
