Services Held For Gene Lohr

Funeral service was held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for Gene Lohr, 32, who died August 27 at DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne following a long illness.

The Rev. Fred Bolinger conducted the service. Mrs. Judson P. Watson was organist. Soloist Mark Lohr, cousin of the deceased, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Seasons in the Sun."

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Melugin, Garry Mille, Terry Rood, and Bob Zerbe, all close friends of the Mr. Lohr. Casket bearers were Gene Perry, Ralph Sides, Wayne Sides, Don Heckert, Jerry Sturman and Bob Holmes.

Burial was in the Kirtley Cemetery with military honors by Weiten Dupes Post #4 American Legion. The funeral was held at Peet Mortuary in Lusk.

Gene Harlan Lohr was born Nov. 13, 1941 at Lusk, the son of John Harlan and Ruby Muriel Hanson Lohr. He attended school at Kirtley and graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1959. From 1960-64 he served in the U. S. Marine Corps.

Following the years in service he returned to Kirtley to work with his father on the family ranch. He and Jacqueline Louise Roby were married September 30, 1967, at Lusk.

He is survived by his wife; parents; three brothers Walter of Lusk, George of Anton, Colo. and John of Lusk, and four sisters, Mary Porter of Lusk, Grace Wilkison of Manville, Ida Johnson, Whittier, Calif. and Edna Kazandjian, Whittier, Calif. A daughter Tammi Lynn died in 1969.

The family has designated memorials be given to furnish a room at DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne.

Note: The social security index has November 13 as the birth date, but military records have November 10.
