Willard H. Porter, 84, passed away on May 21st, 2013 at Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk, with his daughter and granddaughter by his side. Willard was born May 1st, 1929 in Harrison, Nebraska to Forest and Helen Porter. He received his schooling in Harrison and left home at a very early age to begin working. Willard worked on farms and ranches his entire life. On November 25th, 1949 he married Mary Anna Lohr in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. While Mary taught school, Willard worked on farms and ranches in Nebraska, Montana and Wyoming. In the early 1960's the couple moved to Mary's family ranch in Kirtley, Wyoming. In 1963, they welcomed their daughter Melanie Dawn. They remained on the ranch until 1991 when they gave their shares of the ranch to Mary's brother and moved to Manville, WY. Upon moving to Manville, Willard began working for Pat Miller on his ranch. Willard retired in 2008 for health reasons, but continued to live at the ranch until 2011. Willard loved working at the Miller ranch and considered them family. Willard worked hard all his life, honest and true, or in the words of Pat Miller "he rode for the brand". In 2011, Willard moved to Lusk to live at the Cozy Corner Inn. He enjoyed his weekly card and bingo games. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Hazel and Phyllis, brother George and numerous infant siblings, his beloved wife of 53 years and their infant son. He is survived by his daughter Melanie, granddaughter Brenna, grandson Seth, sister Shirley, brother Wendell, sister-in-law Edna and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held June 8th, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, WY. Memorials in his name may be sent to Cozy Corner at P.O. Box 333, Lusk, WY 82225.

Memorial services for Willard Porter, 84, of Lusk, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Pier Funeral Home. He passed away Tue., May 24, at Niobrara Health and Life Center.
