Funeral services are pending for James W. "Jim" Larson, age 73, of Lusk. Mr. Larson passed away at his home in Lusk Dec. 18, 2007. A full obituary will follow. Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the arrangements.

James William "Jim" Larson

Funeral services for James William "Jim" Larson, age 73, of Lusk, were held Dec. 22, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, with Pastor Mark Lohr officiating.

Jim was born June 8, 1934, at the Spencer Hospital in Lusk the son of Warren and Charlls (Magoon) Larson. He attended grade school in Niobrara and Converse County schools, and graduated in 1952 from Niobrara County High School.

Jim graduated from Barnes Business College in Denver. He worked for Denver and Rio Grande Railroad as a dispatcher. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served two years in Germany. After returning to the States, he moved to California and met and married Penny Prescott. They were the parents of one son, Dean Richard Larson. They then moved to Casper where Jim lived until 1997 when he moved to Lusk into the Ranger Apartments until the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his son Dean, daughter-in-law Vallerie, and two granddaughters, Aspen and Linnea, of Sparks, Nev.; brother Jack Larson and wife Kathy of Lusk; beloved nieces Lori Knaub and sons Sean and Drew of Cheyenne; Jo Dee Smith and children Adam, Alyssa, and Landon of Kimball, Neb.; and Kristy Reeb and husband Ray and sons Tyler, Spenser, and Parker of Broomfield, Colo. He was a special uncle to his nieces and nephews and spent many happy hours hunting and playing cards and games with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jo Ann. He is sadly missed by his good friends at the Ranger Apartments and his many friends from the Lusk and Nebraska areas.
