Moon Erlewine Dies Sunday

Glenn H. (Moon) Erlewine, 57, owner and operator of "Moon's Chat and Chew" eating house near the High School, died at his home of a heart attack Sunday afternoon. Mr. Erlewine had suffered a serious heart attack several years ago, but had recovered and had been in apparent good health until he was stricken Sunday.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel, Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Victor Ireland of Harrison in charge. A quartet composed of Dr. Richard Collins, Harry Lyon, Mrs. Walter C. Fernau and Mrs. Robert Bramlet sang "Beautiful Isle" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Graveside services were conducted by the Elks Lodge. Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harry Fernau, Sr., Arthur Keller, Robert Vollmer, Bud Hoblit, Harold Rogers and Kenneth Gibson of Igloo, So. Dak. Honorary bearers were members of the Volunteer Fire Department of both Lusk and Torrington.

Glenn Herbert Erlewine, son of Samuel and Ada McKinley Erlewine, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, May 30, 1904. He came to Wyoming with his family to homestead south of Van Tassell in 1913. He married Miss Iris Lohr in Chadron, November 8, 1930, and they were the parents of six children, one daughter, Terry Ann, dying in infancy. The family moved to Lusk in 1931, where Mr. Erlewine was engaged in various businesses. He was an active member of the Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and was president at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Elks.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Lou Golden of Apple Valley, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Canfield of Casper; Garnet Myrup of Lusk; two sons, Glenn Jr., of Casper and Ted of Lusk; a sister, Miss Blanche Erlewine and three brothers, Kenneth, John and Jim, all of Lusk; an aunt Miss Blanche Erlewine of Woodbine, Iowa; and eight grand children.

Most Lusk businesses were closed from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday during the funeral.
