Robert Wayne Holmes
Robert Wayne Holmes was born March 31, 1932 at Boulder City, Nevada, the son of Neil H. Holmes and Helen Hanson Holmes. He entered into his Father's Kingdom on January 27, 1984 at Lusk.
He graduated from Boulder City High School in 1951 where he lettered in basketball, track and football where he was noted for his kicking.
After spending many of his summers working for his uncle Frank Hanson on the ranch he entered the United States Army where he spent 18 months in Japan. Upon returning to civilian life he worked on various ranches.
On September 24, 1955 he married Kay Ann Shepherd of Van Tassell. In 1957, after living a short time at Douglas and Boulder City, they purchased the Harry Burnham ranch southeast of Van Tassell, where he resided at the time of his death.
To this happy union were born a son Neil Warren and a daughter Misty Lee.
Bob was affiliated with the Wyoming Stockgrowers Association, the Wyoming Farm Bureau, a member of the American Rural Sunday School, a former director of the Federal Land Bank, and was active in Vital Corporation.
He not only excelled as a rancher but as a carpenter, using his talents in construction in both the Harrison and Lusk communities.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Kay, son Neil of the family ranch; daughter Misty Lowe and son-in-law Grant of Lance Creek; his parents, Neil and Helen Holmes of Boulder City; sisters, Doris B. Sullivan of Fresno, Calif.; and Carol A. Peckenpaugh of Jeffersonville, Ind. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Dick officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Elizabeth Craske, accompanied by soloist, Joy Kaltenhauser, singing "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden".
Pallbearers were John Lohr, Donald Heckert, Morris Engebretsen, Jimmy Shane, Paul Ellicott and Bill DesEnfants.
Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund.
Arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
