Mrs. Roy Seifreid, Mother of Local Woman Dies in Casper; Concluding Services Held Here Monday Afternoon

Mrs. Maude Helen Seifried, wife of Roy Seifried of Casper, and mother of Mrs. Fred Hansen of this city, passed away Saturday, September 22, in Casper, following major surgery. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday from the Bustard Funeral Home. Rev. Forrest O. Miller of St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Casper, was in charge of the rites. "In the Garden" and "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again," were sung by Mrs. Geo. Walker.

The remains were conveyed overland to Lusk where interment was made in the Lusk cemetery. Pallbearers were five grandsons, Harve Ledford of Lusk, Lester Nelson and James Lee of Glenrock, Bill Howard of Gillette, and Donald Cooper of Casper, and a friend of long acquaintance, Carl Bruch of Lusk. Honorary bearers were Glen Donaldson, C.E. Chambers, Fred Barnes, Walter Stevens, John Walker and Mr. Abar.

Maude Helen Seifried was born Dec. 24th, 1883 at Central City, So. Dak., a daughter of Samuel and Carolyn Augusta Houston. She spent her childhood in the vicinity of Lead and Deadwood, South Dakota.

On December 24, 1901, she married John Richard Anderson in Central City. To this union were born three daughters. In 1910, the family moved to Wyoming and homesteaded ten miles east of Lusk. They left the ranch in 1922, and Mr. Anderson became employed on with section crew of the Chicago and North Western Railway. Later they moved to Whitney, Nebr., and it was while living there that Mr. Anderson passed away in 1948.

The following year Mrs. Anderson moved to Casper, and in 1950, she was married to Roy Seifried.

Survivors include her husband, Roy, of Casper; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Hansen of Lusk, Wyo., Mrs. Duke Olds of Umatilla, Oregon, and Mrs. C.R. Gitthens of Casper; seven grandchildren, 16 (great) grandchildren and one brother, Frank Houston of Bowman, North Dakota.

Mrs. Seifried Dies In Casper Saturday; Interment Is in Lusk

Mrs. Roy Seifried, the former Mrs. John Anderson, an early homesteader near Lusk, died Saturday, Sept. 22, at Casper. She had been ill most of the summer and for the past six weeks her daughter, Mrs. Fred Hanson of Lusk has been with her.

Funeral services were held in Casper Monday at the bustard Funeral Home at 10 a.m. The Rev. Forrest church officiated. Two vocal numbers, "In the Garden" and "God Be With You 'Till We Meet Again", were sung by Mrs. George Walker of Casper preceding the religious ceremony. Honorary pall bearers were Glen Donaldson, John Walker, Mr. Abar, C. E. Chambers, Walter Stevens and Fred Barns.

Committal services were held in the Lusk Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. with the grandson, and Carl Bruch, an old friend, carrying the body to its final resting place. The grandsons are Harve Ledford, Lusk; Lester Nelson, Genrock; James Lee, Glenrock; Bill Howard, Gillette; and Donald Cooper, Casper.

They left the ranch in 1922 and Mr. Anderson began working for the Chicago and North Western on the section. Later they moved to Whitney, Neb. where Mr. Anderson died in 1948.

During the years Mrs. Seifried lived in this area she was dressmaker for many women here. It is interesting too, that she was greatly interested in outdoor sports, and for many years took great delight in hunting and fishing. She would hunt rabbits on trips back and forth to Lusk, often went to the Black Hills and until shortly before he death still went fishing at every opportunity.

In 1949 Mrs. Anderson moved to Casper where in 1950 she married Roy Seified. They made their home at 1321 S. Cottonwood.

She leaves, besides her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Fred Hansen, Lusk; Mrs. Duke Olds, Umatilla, Ore.; and Mrs. C. R. Gitthens, Casper. There are seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. One brother, Frank Houston, lives in Bowman, N. Dak.

In Casper she was an active member in the Ladies of the Moose, Rebekah Lodge 39, the Garden Club and Natrona Fish and Game Assocation.
