Minnie M. Beard Dies at Age of 84

Minnie M. Beard, 84, resident of this community for 34 years, died in the Lusk Hospital at 5:00 Monday evening after an illness of nine months.

Mrs. Beard was born in Champlain, Ill., moving from there to Iowa. Thirty-four years ago Mrs. Beard came to this county from Iowa. For many years she was a country correspondent for the Peaceful Valley community. She was a member of the Silver Cliff War Mothers.

Her husband, Ira Beard, preceded her in death. She lived on a ranch about five miles north of Lusk with her son, Roy.

Funeral arrangements were made for 2:00 Wednesday from the Peet Chapel. Pallbearers were Jess Meier, Albert Meier, Gilbert Brinkerhoff, Frank Taylor, Joe McConaughey and Emil Klemke.

Last Rites Held For Minnie Beard

Last rites were held for Mrs. Minnie Beard, long-time resident of this community, who died in the Lusk Hospital Monday, July 31. The services were conducted by George Reasoner of Casper, leader of the Church of Jehovah witnesses, at 2:00 o'clock, August 2, from the Peet Chapel.

Mrs. A.F. DeCastro and Miss Justine Watson, forming a vocal duet, sang "Onward Christian Soldier" and "Good Night and Good Morning." Mrs. Judson F. Watson presided aat the chapel organ.

The Silver Cliff Chapter of Ameridan War Mothers, of which Mrs. Beard was a member, gave their final tribute during the funeral rites.

Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery, with Albert Meier, Joe McConaughey, Jess Meier, Emil Klemke, Gilbert Brinkerhoff and Frank Taylor acting as pallbearers.

Minnie Benton was born August 14, 1866, in Champaign, Illinois, to Mr. and Mrs. Miles Benton. At the age of 17 she moved to Kahoke, Missouri. She was married to Ira L. Beard in Kahoke.

In 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Beard and their two children, Roy and Gertrude, settled on a ranch five miles north of Lusk, where they have since made their home.

Mrs. Beard's husband preceded her in death in 1933. She is survived by her two children, Roy Beard of Lusk, and Mrs. Gertrude Poole of Santa Maria, California. Mrs. Poole was unable to attend the services for her mother.
